What is a variable in OM Staff ?

The fixed Salary Types  assigned to an employee, and which make up his or her bundle, are used to calculate all the salaries you ask to create for this employee.

Variables are also salary types, but are only used to calculate a particular salary record. This is why, when you create them, you must indicate the number of the pay slip for which they will be taken into account.

Entering Variables

The variables you'll need to enter on a regular basis (monthly or weekly) are, for example: the number of hours worked for hourly-paid employees (Salary type No. 1005.00), the number of overtime hours (No. 1005.11, paid at 125%), the number of vacation days taken (No. 6800.50), the amount of expense reimbursements (No. 6002.00, for example, for meal expenses), the sales achieved for commissioned employees (No. 1218.02), etc. If this is the first salary slip of the financial year (normally the January slip), you'll need to create a variable for each employee in particular.

If this is the first salary slip of the year (normally the January slip), you'll need to create a variable for each employee in particular: the one that defines their residual vacation entitlement from the previous year (No. 6800.10).

To enter an employee's variables, click on this button in the employee's record.

The program will then overlay the Employee Variables window.

Please refer to the software manual for further information on entering variables.
