Salary types management
Salary types (accessible via the Data menu) are methods of calculating salary sheet lines. For example: contractual salary, AHV contribution, vacation entitlement, net salary, etc. Each employee will be assigned a set of salary types (an assembly), which will then be used to calculate the various lines of his or her salary slip. Each employee will be assigned a set of salary types (a bundle), which will then be used to calculate the various lines of his or her salary slip.
Some of these types are "fixed", i.e. they are calculated for each pay slip. Others are called "Variable", because they can vary from salary to salary.
Office Maker Staff comes with standard settings, i.e. a set of salary types that will enable you to deal with all common situations.
The PRO version of the software allows you to modify the calculation formulas of certain existing salary types and to create new salary types.
Numbering of salary types
Each salary type is coded by a number. All salary types have a number consisting of four digits before the separator (the dot), and two digits (or more) after the separator.
Salary types that conform strictly to the ELM (swissdec) standard all end with the two digits 00 after the separator. For example, the numbers: 1000.00 Monthly salary, 1161.00 Holiday pay, 2026.00 IV/AI pension, etc.
Office Maker Staff offers and uses additional salary types, to perform intermediate calculations or enable you to easily enter certain data not managed by the ELM standard. These salary types end with two digits, other than 00, after the separator. For example, the numbers: 1004.14 Number of hours paid absence, 1218.02 Commission on sales 2%, 6003.10 Parking costs, 6800.50 No. of vacation days taken, etc.
In the Light and Standard versions of Office Maker Staff, you can call on Micro Consulting to add customized salary types to your settings, according to your needs. These salary types will then be assigned a number ending with three digits after the separator.
Finally, the PRO version of Office Maker Staff lets you create new salary types yourself. In this case, we recommend that you assign a number to each type, so that it can be grouped with similar types. On the other hand, the types created in this way must have a number ending with three digits after the separator. For example, you could create a salary type that automatically determines a variable rate of commission on a salesperson's sales based on a table. This type could then be named "Sales commission (auto)" and numbered 1219.011.
Choosing a number using the joker
The salary type number, although made up of numbers only, is an alphabetical field, which means that you can use the wildcard (@) in the various windows where you can enter a type number. If necessary, this will bring up a selection window, to help you choose the type you're looking for.
For example, in the Variables input window, if you enter 60@ as Type No., after pressing the Tab key, you'll get a selection window containing all salary genres whose number starts with 60.
