Description of the Export dialog

The export window appears when you choose Export from the File menu.

The scroll area shows a list of all the export formats that can be obtained from the current file. In this list, items in bold correspond to predefined formats, while others are custom formats, either because you have associated a search or sort to a predefined format, or because it has been entirely created by yourself using the report generator.

On the right-hand side of the window, various buttons allow you to Create a custom export format, Duplicate an existing format, Modify or Delete it. The Add button imports a format saved on disk, Save exports a format to disk, while the Options button displays a dialog of parameters specific to the selected format.

The star at bottom left adds the selected format to the favorites bar .

Once the desired export format has been selected, click on the Export button in the bottom right-hand corner to start exporting. Another dialog is displayed that lets you define the name and location of the export file.

The majority of export files created are text files using a tab stop between fields and a line break between records. Their characters encoding is usually Unicode UTF-8. Such files can be opened by a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel or a word processor such as Microsoft Word or LibreOffice/OpenOffice.
