Location of data files for single-user versions
Office Maker / BiblioMaker data must not be opened on cloud storage such as Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or OneDrive etc.
We recommend storing data in the location automatically suggested on the workstation itself. If you wish to store data on a network server (NAS or other), it is essential to check that it supports "File locking", which is designed to prevent a second workstation on the network from opening the same data file simultaneously, at the risk of data corruption.
If several workstations need simultaneous access to the data, use the server or cloud version.
Local Server Version
The computer chosen as server should ideally be dedicated solely to this task and not used as a workstation.
Data should be stored on a local server disk (preferably SSD), with a second, physically separate disk (HDD or SSD) used for backups. The backup disk can be synchronized with cloud storage to protect against the consequences of a fire or theft.
For remote connection of client workstations via the Internet, a VPN connection is recommended.
