How do I globally change the maximum number of loans allowed per reader ?

A reader's record in the Addresses file contains a Max. number of loans field specifying the limit set on the number of simultaneous loans a reader can make.

If, for any reason, you decide to modify your policy and wish to change this limit, here's how to proceed:

Changing the default value

The options in the Addresses file automatically define this maximum number of loans when a new reader record is created.

In the Addresses file, call up the Action>Options command, select the desired address type and click on the Modify button. Edit the Max. number of loans field and confirm. If necessary, repeat the operation with other address types.

Changing the value stored in the current readers records

Changing the default value has no retroactive effect on reader records already entered. You must therefore modify these reader records as well.

In the Addresses file, call up the Action>Search command and search for addresses whose Max. number of loans contains the value to be modified. Once you've found the addresses you're looking for, make sure that only the addresses you want are displayed on the screen.

Activate the addresses found (by highlighting them), then call up the Action>Apply command. In the Target menu, select the Max. number of loans value and, in the Value field, enter the new value. Confirm with the Apply button.

Notice

If you're unfamiliar with the Apply command, test it on a single address record first. This way, if you make a mistake, you can quickly correct the error. Then repeat the operation with all selected address records.
