Conditions for renewing current loans in the online catalog

Library users can consult their account from the online catalog and renew their current loans.

The following conditions must be met in order to renew a loan:

  • The user must not have a balance due* (check the user's record).
  • The user must not have blocked loans (check the user's record, check box "Loans forbidden").
  • The user must have paid his/her subscription (check the user's record).
  • The lent title may not be overdue*.
  • The user may not have other overdue loans*.
  • The title to be renewed must not be reserved by another user*.
  • The delay between the current date and the date of return for the title may not be longer than the normal loan duration for the title (example: a title may be lent for 30 days ; on June 1st, the date of return is on August, 15th, a renewal is possible only from July, 15th).
  • The maximum number of renewals for the title has not been reached (check the Options in the Titles file for the maximum number of renewals possible and compare with the number of renewals already granted for this loan).
  • The loan duration for this title has not been changed to 0 day (check the title record).
  • The loan must no have been renewed on the same day.

*These conditions can be disabled in the WebOPAC server settings.

If one of these conditions is not met, then the option for a renewal is not suggested by the system.
