How do I prevent some readers from borrowing some kinds of titles ?

Some titles are not for all readers. For instance, a child should not be able to loan a comic for adults. You can prevent such a situation from happening with BiblioMaker.

But before you can define such a rule, you have to identify in the database the title type and the reader type that are not compatible. In the Options of the Titles file, create if necessary a new type of title (for instance Comics for adults). If you have already created title records that should have this type, use the Apply function in order to change their type. Do the same in the Addresses file : in the Options, create if necessary a new address type (for instance Child) and apply this new type to some address records.

In the Options of the Loans file (Loan duration tab), tick the Define loan duration according to the following table radio button : a table is displayed, containing all titles types and also a pop-up menu with the readers types. Select the reader’s type (for instance Child) and in the table, put 0 in the Loan duration column for the titles types you want to block.
