Swissdec transmission, problems with Java
The transmission of payroll data to cantonal tax and social insurance authorities via the Swissdec ELM standard is based on Java technology, which means that it must be installed on workstations running Staff.
This installation is automatic, as it is managed entirely by Staff. However, it can happen that the installation of Java or one of its updates fails, usually due to access rights issues.
The files you need to use Java are stored in a folder called OMFiles in the following location on disk:
- macOS : Macintosh HD:Users:Shared:OMFiles
- Windows : C:\ProgramData\OMFiles
The Staff program (which inherits rights from the current session) must have read/write access to the OMFiles folder. You should therefore grant these rights if necessary. Alternatively, you can delete the OMFiles folder and restart Staff so that the program can recreate the folder with the appropriate permissions.
Caution : macOS may display a warning message asking you to recycle the Java executable. In this case, click on the Cancel button, then restart Staff. Then open System Settings>Privacy and Security. In the Security section, click on the Allow anyway button. Confirm the change with your Mac session password.
If you don't have the authorizations to perform this operation, please inform your IT manager that the OMFiles folder and the folders it contains must have read/write rights.
