Installing several identical Office Maker Server or BiblioMaker Server programs on the same computer

Each Office Maker Server and BiblioMaker Server program is able to open a single data file at a time. If you wish to publish several data files on the network from the same program (e.g. Office Maker Business), you need to install a copy of Office Maker Server or BiblioMaker Server for each data file, in a different folder each time.

Office Maker Finance and Staff Server software can alternately open several accounting periods (the change of period is made via the File>Change period command in the Client software). It is therefore only necessary to install several instances of the server software if you wish to open several accounting periods in parallel.

After installing the first instance of the program , simply duplicate the folder containing the application.

Then open the folder containing the copy of the Office Maker Server or BiblioMaker Server program:

Windows macOS

Open the Server Database folder. You'll find a file named after the Office Maker program, with the extension .4DZ. Rename this file but keep its extension (e.g. OM Finance Company X.4DZ).

If necessary, repeat the operation with the first instance of the program to rename it (e.g. OM Finance Company Y.4DZ).

We recommend that you also rename the folder containing each program. For example, you would have a folder named OM Finance Edelweiss and a folder named OM Finance Swiss Tulips in the C:\Program files\Office Maker\ directory.

It is the name of the 4DZ file you define here that will be used to identify the service created to automate program startup. We therefore recommend that you give a clear name to this file, so that the server administrator can easily distinguish between the different services.

Display the contents of the Office Maker Server package using the context menu, then open the Contents:Server Database folder.

We recommend that you also rename each program. For example, you'd have an application named OM Finance Edelweiss and an application named OM Finance Swiss Tulips in the Macintosh HD:Applications:Office Maker folder.

Please note: the TCP and UDP ports used by each Office Maker Server or BiblioMaker Server program must be unique. Modify these settings as described in this article .
