Command Receive a Backup in the Maintenance

This command is available only in the multi-user version for the Administrator. In the Cloud version, if your data file occupies more than 1 GB, you will only be able to receive the backup outside office hours on weekdays and at most once a month.

This command generates a full backup of the database on the server and sends it to the client workstation. The backup can then be opened with the single-user version of the software for consultation purposes.

When this command is called, a dialog box containing the log of previously recovered backups is presented. Click on the Start button: a dialog box for saving the file on the disk is displayed, proposing by default the location Documents\Office Maker\[Program name]\Backups or Documents\BiblioMaker\Backups. Give a name to the backup file to save and validate. The duration of the backup and its transfer to the workstation depends on the size of the data file and the connection speed between the client workstation and the server.

The recovered backup has the .4BK extension. It must be restored using the single-user version of the software, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Office Maker or BiblioMaker website.

After installing the single-user program, start it: press and hold down the Shift key during startup; in the dialog that appears, choose the Restore backup file command in the gear menu. Select the recovered backup. You get a copy of the original data file with the extension .4DD saved by default in the same folder as the backup.

The application then suggests to open the restored data file. Once the file is opened, the data is presented on the screen in a similar way to the multi-user version. The only difference is that - for security reasons and to avoid confusion between the current file and its copy - you cannot edit the copy of the data file.
