Sort the Accounts records with help of the Index field

The Index field is a number used for sorting the chart of accounts, for printing the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Statement. The same number as the Account No. is proposed by default but you can change it. This allows you to position an account in a different place when printing the balance sheet or profit and loss statement.

It is possible to define a double index by separating the two parts of the index with the “&” character. In this case, the first index will be used if the account balance is positive, and the second if the balance is negative. You can thus have an account appear in the Assets or Liabilities section, depending on the sign of the Account Balance.
