How do I manage fines when overdue titles are checked in ?

BiblioMaker can automatically calculate the fine and possible reminder fee if a reader bring titles later than expected.

You define the amount of the fine in the Options of the Loans file. This amount may be calculated depending on the delay and on the number of titles concerned. Moreover, the amount may also depend on the title’s type (for instance Book or DVD) and on the reader’s type (for instance Teacher or Pupil).

You may also define reminder fee in the Options of the Loans file. The amount may be calculated depending on the reader’s type and if the reminder has been sent by mail or by e-mail.

When a reader gives an overdue title back, the system demands that the calculated fee to be paid. You then just have to register the fee payment.

If a reader is not able to pay immediately, register a cashed amount of Fr. 0.- (but without discounting the remainder, otherwise you would void the fee). The next time the reader will take out some titles, a warning is displayed. You register the payment of the fee by clicking on the Payment button in the dialog box for managing loans.

All payments are registered in the Payments file. You can check your petty cash by printing a list of the payments registered during a certain period of time.
