Unexpected activation key request
If, on startup, the program asks for an activation key that you don't have, here's how to solve the problem.
A key can be requested in the following cases:
1. A time-limited key has expired.
Please contact Micro Consulting to extend the duration of the key.
2. When installing a major software update (e.g. from version 7.1 to 7.3).
Normally, the key is updated automatically via the Internet during a major update. Please ensure that your Internet connection is working. You can update the activation key by going to Maintenance (via the File>Maintenance command) and calling up the Maintenance>Registration command. In the key registration dialog, click on the Receive key via Internet button. If this fails, please contact Micro Consulting.
3. When creating a new data file*.
Note: sometimes a new data file is created unintentionally. For example, if you rename or move the data file or the folder in which the data file is located, the next time you start the program it will no longer be found and you will be asked to locate it. If you accidentally click on the New button in the file selection dialog, the program creates a new data file and requests an activation key. Fix the issue by opening the right data file again : To do this, restart the program and press the Shift key during the start-up phase, until the dialog box for selecting the data file to be opened appears. If necessary, use the Other file… button.
*The exception to this is the creation of a new exercise in Finance and Staff, where the activation key is automatically transferred to the new exercise.
If in doubt, please contact Micro Consulting technical support for assistance.
