How do I ensure data consistency ?
Office Maker and BiblioMaker are based on a relational database in which data distributed between several files are linked together. Thus, in Office Maker Business, the invoices are linked to address files, possibly to credit notes, payment files, etc.
A computer system is never safe from a hardware failure (defective hard disk, power failure when recording information...) or a software failure. This is why it can happen that a database is damaged and the data lose their coherence.
The Office Maker and BiblioMaker software have a function that checks the consistency of your data and informs you of any error encountered. It is recommended to perform this check once or twice a year or in case of strange behavior of the software.
You call the Consistency Test from Maintenance (accessible via the menu File>Maintenance) by calling the command Operations>Coherence Check.
The dialog displays checkboxes for each program and you can test the consistency of certain files only. After selecting the checkboxes, validate the dialog and a report is displayed at the end of the test. Some inconsistencies can be corrected by the Regeneration operation, while others must be corrected manually.
Please note that the consistency test can only be performed if only one person is connected to the database. Moreover, the test can take between a few seconds and several minutes depending on the size of the data file. It is therefore preferable to perform this test outside the usual hours of use of the software.
