How can I hide titles in the online catalogue ?
It may happen that a library has documents for internal use that it catalogues, but does not want to display in the online catalogue for library users.
Here’s how to make these documents not appear in the online catalogue:
- In User Account Management (under Maintenance, via the Maintenance>Configure Users menu), create or modify an account that will be associated with the public web search (online catalogue visitors will inherit the permissions of this account). In the permissions of this account, make sure that the Access to confidential data check box is not checked.
- In the online catalogue settings (in Maintenance, via the Web menu>Configure public search WebOPAC), on the General tab, select the account created or modified in the previous step from the pop-up menu User.
- In the Title record, Local data tag, tick the Confidential check box.
The first two steps are to be performed only once, the third step is to be performed for each title to be filtered in the online catalogue.
Note: If you want to prevent certain librarian user accounts (e.g. library assistants) from accessing these confidential titles records, you can also remove their permission (see Step 1).
