Word processor, how do I insert a picture ?
Here's how to insert an image in the word processor:
- Position the cursor in the word processor area at the desired image location and select Insert>Insert a picture from the contextual menu. Alternatively, in the sidebar, select the Insert option and click on the Picture button.
- You can choose between a local picture (stored on disk, you'll need to select the picture file on disk) or a web picture (published on a website, you'll need to enter the picture address).
- Once the picture has been inserted, select it and, if necessary, resize it using the handles. From the contextual menu, select the Picture command and choose its positioning: inline with text (the image moves according to the length of the text preceding the image), in front of text (the picture is detached from the text and always appears in the foreground; text may be hidden by the image), behind text (the picture is detached from the text and always appears in the background; text may hide the image).
Notice
If you've placed the picture behind the text, you'll need to press Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) while clicking on the picture to select it.
If you're inserting local images, we recommend that you keep their "weight" (=the size they take up on disk) to a minimum: avoid exceeding 1-2 Megabytes. Indeed, if the document you're working on is intended to be sent by e-mail, each e-mail will contain one or more images, which can make the e-mail heavier. What's more, your data file could grow larger due to the storage of the images included.
